Sharon Shechter, age 35, was last seen on December 9, 2001, in Perinton, New York. She was in the process of a contentious divorce from her estranged husband, Alan Shechter, and had received a protective order against him the year before. Sharon was last seen by a friend at around 5:00 p.m. at her home on Nettlecreek Road, where she went inside to activate the holiday lights. She had plans to pick up her three children from Alan's residence later that day but never arrived.
