In the late morning of May 18, 2005, 23-year-old Kenny Manuel Naidas, Jr. left his home on Bramblett Road in Radcliff, Kentucky, to run a few errands. His fiancée had asked him to pick up some diapers and baby formula for their child. At around 1:30 p.m., Kenny, who was also known as 'Junior,' called his fiancée to let her know he was on his way back home. That was the last time she, or anyone else, would ever hear from him.
When he failed to return, his family and friends grew concerned and reported him missing. At the time he vanished, he was wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, and red and white Nike Air Jordan tennis shoes. He also had on diamond stud earrings and a First Communion crucifix necklace.
The day after his last phone call, Kenny's maroon 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was discovered abandoned in a parking lot shared by a Dollar General store and Corbanos Italiana Restaurant off of South Dixie Boulevard in Radcliff. There were no immediate signs of foul play or anything suspicious at the scene where the vehicle was located. According to his father, Kenny had no reason to be at either of those businesses that day. It was also noted as unusual that he was driving the Tahoe, a vehicle he typically only used when his children were with him. In the initial days of the investigation, law enforcement and community members conducted extensive searches in areas he was known to frequent, and his loved ones distributed flyers, hoping for any information that might lead to his whereabouts.
Kenny was described as a friendly and outgoing person, a good parent who was close to his children and would not have willingly abandoned them. He and his fiancée had plans to get married in June of 2005, on his birthday. He had recently completed his probationary period as a computer technician for United Parcel Service in Louisville and was considered a good employee with a strong work ethic, making his unannounced absence from work highly uncharacteristic. As the investigation continued, authorities learned that just three days after Kenny disappeared, two of his close friends were arrested and later convicted on charges of trafficking significant amounts of marijuana and cocaine. Investigators have stated their belief that Kenny may have been involved in his friends' drug activities and that his disappearance could be connected to them. One of the friends reported an attempted kidnapping by a group of unidentified men during a drug transaction around the time Kenny went missing, adding another layer of complexity to the case. While some theories suggest he may have gone into hiding to avoid legal trouble or retaliation, his family has remained deeply concerned for his safety, emphasizing that his vanishing is completely out of character.
