Nita Mary Mayo, a 64-year-old nurse from Hawthorne, Nevada, went missing on August 8, 2005. That morning, she had breakfast with a friend and mentioned her plans to take a day trip to the Sonora Pass area in California. She never returned. Two days later, her vehicle, a silver 1997 Mercury Sable station wagon, was found abandoned at Donnell Vista Point, a scenic overlook in the Stanislaus National Forest.
