On Valentine's Day in 2006, 62-year-old Judy Casida left her residence in Reno, Nevada, and was never heard from again. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a Caucasian female with gray hair and hazel eyes, standing at 5'6" and weighing 138 pounds. A notable characteristic was a scar that extended from her neck to her abdomen. Reports indicate that Casida was experiencing depression concerning her life and marriage at the time she went missing. She left a note at her home that expressed these feelings. Casida was driving a white 1991 Mazda pickup truck with Nevada license plate number 920 NRH. There has been no activity on her bank accounts since the day she vanished. Weeks later, on March 5, 2006, Casida's white Mazda pickup was discovered abandoned. The vehicle was located near Winnemucca, Nevada, off the Pumpernickel Valley exit ramp on Interstate 80. The truck was found to be in working order and had a full tank of gas. A single set of footprints led from the abandoned vehicle toward the interstate before disappearing. The discovery of her truck brought no new leads, and her whereabouts remained a mystery. Her family, some of whom reside in Oregon, were left with no answers. The investigation into Judy Casida's disappearance is ongoing and remains unsolved. Her case is classified as an endangered missing person. A peculiar and unsettling coincidence has been noted in connection with her case; five years later, in 2011, another individual, Patrick Carnes, also went missing, and his vehicle was found abandoned at the very same exit ramp. Despite this strange similarity, authorities have not found any evidence to officially link the two cases. The circumstances surrounding Judy Casida's disappearance, from the note she left behind to the discovery of her abandoned but operable truck, create a perplexing and somber mystery that continues to trouble investigators and her loved ones.
