In the small community of Cave Junction, Oregon, the evening of May 14, 2006, marked the beginning of a lasting mystery with the disappearance of 43-year-old Patrick Warren Mahurin. Known to his friends as "Thatcher," Patrick was last seen at approximately 5:00 p.m. leaving his residence near Highway 199. He departed on his red FS-Elite Convertible Cruiser bicycle, which had a wire basket on the front. Patrick, who had moved to Cave Junction only two months prior from Ashland, Oregon, was a musician at heart, often seen with his keyboard. His sudden departure followed an argument, after which he reportedly took a bottle of sleeping pills and a bottle of scotch with him. This has raised significant concern for his well-being, as he has a medical condition requiring medication. Patrick is described as a white male with auburn, curly hair and blue eyes, standing at 5'7" and weighing around 140 pounds. He has several distinctive tattoos, including tribal black flames around his left nipple, a rose on his right shoulder, and a keyboard on his left wrist. He also has piercings in his left ear and left nipple. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a dark green long-sleeved shirt with white piping down the shoulders and arms, jeans, a black leather jacket with metal trim, and athletic shoes. He may have also been wearing reading glasses or sunglasses with small, round frames. His family noted that it was highly uncharacteristic of him to be out of contact, and they feared for his safety. The investigation into Patrick's disappearance has been ongoing, but his whereabouts remain unknown. His bicycle is also still missing. Authorities have noted that he has not collected any government assistance checks since he vanished. A loaf of bread was left out on the counter of his home, suggesting his departure may have been abrupt. Despite the passage of time, the case remains unsolved, leaving his family and the community without answers. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance, particularly his emotional state and the items he took with him, have led to enduring concerns for his welfare.
