On a late summer afternoon, 54-year-old Daryl Alphonse Wilkes began a journey that would lead to his enduring and mystifying disappearance. On August 24, 2007, at approximately 4:00 p.m., he departed from Jefferson City, Missouri, with the intention of visiting his girlfriend at her home in Florissant, Missouri.
