In the autumn of 2007, 62-year-old Charles Bretzman, known to some as "Charlie" or "Tince," was a resident of Phoenix, Arizona. On October 2nd of that year, he was last seen at his home in the vicinity of 7th Street and Union Hills at approximately 10:30 in the morning. It was believed that he had plans to go camping in the Bradshaw Mountains, specifically in the Turkey Creek area of Yavapai County. At the time of his disappearance, Bretzman had several distinguishing features, including a deformed right index fingernail, pierced ears, and surgical scars on his abdomen. He also had a faded blue tattoo on his right upper arm and left upper wrist. Concerned for his well-being was amplified by the fact that he had a medical condition that might require medication. When Charles Bretzman left his Phoenix residence, he was reportedly wearing a brown and blue checkered flannel shirt with a quilted lining over a t-shirt, blue jeans, a baseball cap, and white Reebok athletic shoes. He also had on an old Russian tank commander watch, which was described as having a picture of a tank on its face and a metal flex band. Along with his clothing and a pocketknife, he was believed to have a large blue tarp with him. He was driving his distinctive 1990 black Jeep Wrangler, which had chrome bumpers and a chrome grill, a bikini top, no windows, and a lift kit. A unique detail of the Jeep was a two-inch metal grasshopper ornament on the dashboard. The months following Charles Bretzman's disappearance yielded no signs of his whereabouts. It wasn't until April of 2008 that a significant development occurred in the case. His 1990 black Jeep Wrangler was discovered abandoned in a remote area between Minnehaha and Wagoner in Yavapai County. The discovery of his vehicle, however, did not lead to any further information about what may have happened to him. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, and his case is considered an unsolved missing person's investigation. Despite the passage of time, the search for answers continues.
