Kimberly Ann Stewart, a 21-year-old woman from Sheridan, California, was last seen on May 24, 1977. On the day of her disappearance, Kimberly had left her two daughters with a babysitter and went to meet her estranged husband, Steven Michael Stewart, at a pizza parlor in Wheatland to collect money. Witnesses at the restaurant reported seeing the couple argue before leaving in separate vehicles. Kimberly never returned to pick up her children and has not been seen since.
Later that evening, her car, a gray 1975 Chevrolet Vega, was found abandoned along Highway 65, not far from her home in Sheridan. The keys were still in the ignition, and her checkbook was inside the vehicle. Kimberly’s estranged husband claimed that he, along with his brother, discovered the car and speculated that Kimberly had voluntarily left with someone else. However, authorities believe Kimberly likely met with foul play, as it was out of character for her to abandon her children.
Despite an extensive investigation, no trace of Kimberly has ever been found, and her case remains unsolved. She was known to have been in a volatile relationship with her husband, and investigators suspect her disappearance may be linked to this.
