In the autumn of 1981, eighteen-year-old Eleanor C. Parker was embarking on a new chapter in her life. A recent graduate of Lee High School, she had moved into an apartment on Gardere Lane with three roommates and was making plans to attend Louisiana State University the following spring. To support herself, Eleanor worked as a clerk at Goudchaux's department store.
