On a cold January night in 1985, 21-year-old Leichia Reilly, a vibrant and artistic college student, vanished after a night out with friends in West Seneca, New York. She was last seen in the early morning hours of January 31st, leaving the popular Pierce Arrow nightclub. At the time of her disappearance, Leichia was a student at Buffalo State College with aspirations of becoming a writer. That evening, she was dressed in a black waist-length coat with red trim, a charcoal-colored cotton jumpsuit, and a sweater with multiple colors, including purple and red. She also wore red perforated shoes and carried a red purse with a shoulder strap. Witnesses reported seeing Leichia leave the nightclub at approximately 3:00 a.m. in the company of an off-duty New York State Trooper named Daniel D. Rose. Reports indicate that Rose returned to the nightclub alone about an hour after they were seen leaving together. When questioned, Rose acknowledged speaking with Leichia at the bar but denied leaving with her, claiming he was with another woman in the parking lot. He retained a lawyer and ceased cooperating with the investigation shortly after giving his initial statement. While he was considered a person of interest, he was never charged in connection with Leichia's disappearance. He was later fired from the New York State Police for reasons reportedly unrelated to the case. In the years that followed, Leichia's family, particularly her father, worked tirelessly to keep her case in the public eye, hoping for answers and a sense of closure that would never come for him, as he passed away in 2016. The West Seneca Police Department has continued to investigate her disappearance as a cold case, periodically receiving and following up on tips. Investigators have long suspected foul play and believe Leichia is deceased, but the absence of her body has presented significant challenges for the prosecution. Despite the passage of decades, the case officially remains an unsolved mystery. The investigation into what happened to Leichia Reilly after she left the Pierce Arrow nightclub that night is ongoing, as her loved ones and law enforcement continue to seek the truth.
