Michael Jefferson Adams, an 18-year-old from Abilene, Texas, was last seen on the night of June 8, 1987. After finishing his shift at M-System Food Store, he drove home and arrived around 11:30 p.m. His stepsister saw him briefly standing next to a dark-colored two-door vehicle parked in front of their home. The car, thought to be an older model Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Oldsmobile Cutlass, or Toronado, was idling, and Michael appeared to be talking to someone inside.
