Bonita 'Bonnie' Krummel, a 44-year-old woman from Medford, New Jersey, disappeared on January 23, 1991, after leaving her home on Hadley Drive. She had told her family she would be back for dinner, but she never returned. Her husband reported her missing to the Medford Township Police Department at 9:30 p.m. that evening. The following day, her car was discovered parked at the Pinelands Library on South Main Street, approximately five miles from her residence. There were no initial signs of foul play at the scene. Inside the vehicle, investigators found a collection of her personal belongings, including her keys, identification, purse, credit cards, wedding ring, cash, and prescription medication.
A significant element of the case was a note left inside the car, which read, 'I am sorry that it had to come to this but I can't go on another minute. Love you all.
Love, Bonnie.' This message, coupled with the personal items left behind, led investigators to consider the possibility that Bonita may have harmed herself. At the time of her disappearance, Bonita had been living with Huntington's disease for about six or seven years. This degenerative genetic disorder is known to cause a decline in muscle control, cognitive abilities, and can lead to mental illness.
