There were reported sightings of Sellew near the Sanford Marina and ABC Liquors on Highway 17-92 a few days later. Despite these potential leads, searches in the surrounding area, including the St. John's River and Lake Monroe, yielded no results. A search dog tracked his scent to a nearby bus stop, but it ended there, leaving investigators without further clues. He had left behind his glasses and essential medication, raising concerns about his well-being.
Originally from Connecticut, Sellew had been living in the group home for only four months. On the day before his disappearance, he spent time speaking with family members attending a reunion in Rhode Island, which led to speculation that he might have attempted to travel there.
