Bethany Anne Sinclair, a 15-year-old girl from West Chesterfield, New Hampshire, disappeared on February 3, 2001, along with her mother, Tina Sinclair. At the time of their disappearance, Bethany and her mother were living with Tina's boyfriend, Eugene Van Bowman, at his residence on Mountain Road. Bowman reported that after an argument on February 4, he left the house and returned to find both Tina and Bethany missing, along with their clothes. However, other personal belongings, including Tina's vehicle and her cat, were left behind.

The last confirmed contact with Bethany was a phone call she made to her boyfriend late on the night of February 3, during which they made plans for Valentine's Day. Suspicion around their disappearance deepened when an unidentified woman called Bethany’s school the next day, claiming she was sick and wouldn’t attend classes. Neither Bethany nor Tina has been heard from since, and they were not reported missing until six days later, on February 10.

Investigators suspect foul play, especially given that there has been no activity on either Tina’s or Bethany’s bank accounts, credit cards, or social security numbers since their disappearance. Bowman's proximity to the Connecticut River raised concerns, and he was seen on the river in his hovercraft early on February 4, but searches of the area yielded no clues. Despite being a person of interest, Bowman has not been charged and has refused to cooperate with authorities. Both mother and daughter remain missing, and the case is still unresolved.
