On a December evening, a 38-year-old woman named Michele Lyn Smith left her home in Eden, North Carolina. It was a time of year typically filled with festive preparations, and Michele reportedly told her family she was heading out to do some Christmas shopping in Martinsville, Virginia. She was last seen wearing a green blouse, blue jeans, and brown shoes.
