In the fall of 2002, Joyce Crider, a 32-year-old woman from Lexington, Kentucky, found her life entangled in a web of personal turmoil. She was in the midst of a contentious divorce from her estranged husband, Bill Crider Jr., a situation so volatile that a court order was in place to keep them apart.
