In the early hours of January 19, 2007, a 40-year-old man named Timothy 'Tim' Potter vanished from Rolla, Missouri. He was last seen around 2:00 a.m. at a friend’s home in the Huffman Trailer Park. Concern grew when Tim, a dependable employee at the G&D Steakhouse, failed to show up for work. His family was alerted, and after realizing he also hadn't attended his uncle's funeral as they initially thought he might have, his mother filed a missing person report on
January 25th. At the time of his disappearance, Tim was described as a white male, standing 5-foot-7 and weighing around 150 pounds, with auburn hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a blue button-up shirt over a white polo shirt, blue jeans, and blue and white tennis shoes.
Tim's appearance was distinctive due to numerous tattoos, including Fievel the mouse on his left chest, Garfield the cat on his right chest, and a tribute to his children, Charlie and Jamie, on his left arm that read 'Daddy's Pride.' He also had a Plucky Duck tattoo on his right calf and another of a woman with a panther on his right shoulder blade. He wore an upper plate of false teeth and had several scars on his body. He was likely wearing a silver watch and a gold ring engraved with the word 'Dad.' Although he was facing some financial and legal troubles and was grieving the recent death of his uncle, his family was adamant that he would not have voluntarily left his life behind, as he was in frequent contact with them.
The circumstances surrounding Tim's disappearance are considered suspicious by law enforcement. His inoperable 1985 dark blue Cadillac DeVille, which was not registered in his name, was left at the trailer park. Shortly after he vanished, a neighbor witnessed an unidentified man with a blue or purple truck hauling the Cadillac away. This man reportedly told the neighbor that Tim wanted him to fix the car and acknowledged that he knew Tim was missing. Neither the man nor the Cadillac has been seen since. Investigators have noted that Tim was involved in the local drug culture, which may have been a factor in his disappearance. Over the years, police have followed hundreds of leads to no avail, and while they have had persons of interest, the case has grown cold.
