William James Simon, a 60-year-old cab driver, went missing from Fayetteville, North Carolina, on March 19, 2008. His disappearance raised immediate concerns after he failed to return home from work. Simon was last seen the following day, March 20, when he visited his wife at her workplace. Although they were separated, they remained in regular contact.
