Phillip James Medlin was 56 years old when he was last seen in Moscow, Idaho, on June 25, 2008. He had dinner with a relative that evening before going back to the Super 8 Motel where he had been staying. The last known contact with Phillip was a phone call he made to his ex-wife at 3:00 a.m. on June 26, 2008. Shortly before his disappearance, on June 17, 2008, his divorce was finalized.
