Adji Desir, a 6-year-old boy, went missing on January 10, 2009, in Immokalee, Florida. Adji was last seen playing outside his grandmother's home in Farm Workers Village around 5:15 p.m. His mother had left him there while she went to work. When his grandmother realized he was missing, she searched for about two hours before contacting the authorities. Despite a large-scale search involving hundreds of law enforcement personnel, no trace of Adji was found.
Adji, who was developmentally disabled and non-verbal, functioned at the level of a two-year-old and could only communicate by nodding or shaking his head. His condition has led investigators to speculate that he may have wandered off or been abducted. Although there were some initial leads suggesting he may have been taken to Haiti, where his biological father lived, these theories were ultimately unsubstantiated. Over the years, Adji’s disappearance has garnered national attention, including being featured on *America’s Most Wanted* and on the cover of *People* magazine, but no solid leads have emerged.
