In the autumn of 2009, a sense of unease settled over the community of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, with the disappearance of 41-year-old Tomoko Ioh. On the morning of Sunday, October 18, 2009, at approximately 10:30 a.m., she left her residence, telling her family she would return in about thirty minutes to an hour.
