Douglas John Legg, an 8-year-old boy, went missing on July 10, 1971, while hiking with family members at their 12,500-acre estate in the Santanoni Preserve near Newcomb, New York. On the day of his disappearance, Douglas was instructed by his uncle to return to the camp and change into long pants to protect against poison ivy.
