Thomas Carleton, a 44-year-old psychologist from Skaneateles, New York, was last seen on October 9, 1993, in the High Peaks area of the Adirondacks. He had left his home early that morning for a planned three-day solo hiking trip, intending to stay in lean-tos along the trail without bringing a tent or camp stove.
