Johnnie Joe Herrera, a 20-year-old man, was last seen on August 27, 1971, at a bachelor party in Oxnard, California. He was driving a light blue 1969 Volkswagen Beetle, which also disappeared along with him. The vehicle had a California license plate number ZWM775, and neither Herrera nor the car has ever been located. Despite reports of a possible sighting at a McDonald's restaurant on Saviers Road, which was one of his frequent hangouts, this was never confirmed.

At the time of his disappearance, Herrera was married and had a 10-month-old son. His loved ones reported that he was content with his life, and there was no indication he planned to leave. His close relationship with his identical twin brother, Joe, further supports that his sudden disappearance was out of character. Joe was the one who reported him missing after several days without contact.

Despite extensive efforts to find Herrera, his case remains one of the oldest unsolved missing persons cases in Oxnard. His wife later moved to Texas, remarried, and had more children, while his brother had him declared legally dead in 1978. Herrera's family and investigators still seek answers in this decades-long mystery.
