In a case that has left family and authorities searching for answers, 37-year-old Philip J. Johnson, a husband and father of four from Pegram, Tennessee, disappeared on October 18, 2023. On that day, Johnson packed some of his belongings and left his residence. He has not been seen or heard from since that day. His wife, Hannah, described his disappearance as 'completely sudden and unexpected,' noting that he had been experiencing some personal struggles before he went missing.
Initially, it was reported that he left in a black Chevrolet Silverado truck.
The circumstances of Johnson's disappearance grew more perplexing when a vehicle linked to him, a white PT Cruiser with temporary Tennessee plates, was discovered abandoned hundreds of miles away in the Brule River State Forest in Wisconsin on November 6, 2023. Local hunters reported that the car might have been parked on the trail off of Brackett's Corner Rd. as early as October 23, just days after he was last seen in Tennessee. This discovery prompted an extensive ground search of the area by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, which included the use of a K-9 team, but no signs of Johnson were found. It was later reported that Johnson had purchased the PT Cruiser after leaving his home in the pickup truck, though the truck has not been located.
The investigation into Philip Johnson's whereabouts remains active, though few leads have emerged since the discovery of his vehicle.
