Cynthia Robin Gooding, aged 16, was last seen on September 3, 1974, in Marathon, Florida. She and her friend, 12-year-old Teresa Alfonso, were dropped off at the Marathon Movie Theater by Alfonso's mother. The girls never made it into the theater, and they were later reported to have been seen leaving in a white or yellow van, allegedly headed to a party. This was the first time Cynthia and Teresa had gone out unsupervised, and neither has been seen since.
Cynthia was a high school junior at the time, and although she had previously disappeared for short periods, investigators no longer believe she or Teresa left voluntarily. The case file related to their disappearance was unfortunately lost in a fire, complicating the investigation. Despite efforts by law enforcement and the inclusion of age-progressed photos, no solid leads have emerged, and the case remains unsolved. Authorities continue to seek any information that may help resolve this long-standing case.
