Mary Rachel Trlica, a 17-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, was last seen on December 23, 1974, during a Christmas shopping trip. Mary, who went by her middle name Rachel, was accompanied by her friends Lisa Renee Wilson, 14, and Julie Ann Moseley, 9. The trio visited the Seminary South Shopping Center but never returned home. Their vehicle, a 1972 Oldsmobile, was found locked in the mall’s parking lot with the Christmas gifts still inside, but there was no trace of the girls.

Various witnesses reported seeing the girls in the mall that day, and some claimed to have seen them being "hustled" into a truck by unidentified men. However, none of these sightings were confirmed. The following day, Rachel’s family received a letter purportedly from her, stating that the girls had gone to Houston and would return in a week. The authenticity of the letter has been questioned, as it was written in a strange handwriting style and addressed her husband, Thomas, in a formal manner unusual for Rachel.

Despite extensive investigations and public interest in what became known as the "Fort Worth Missing Trio" case, the girls have never been found, and their disappearance remains unsolved. Over the years, various theories have emerged, including possible abductions or foul play. The case continues to haunt their families and the community, with occasional new leads and efforts to reexamine the evidence.
