Yolanda Marie Williams, age 7, was last seen on July 20, 1977, in Los Angeles, California. On that night, a tragic fire consumed the family home in Compton. Her mother, Earlene Williams, was found dead inside, having been strangled, but Yolanda, along with her siblings Ivy and Violet Matory, and a family friend Sir-Kristopher Marshall, were missing from the scene.
Authorities discovered a trail of blood leading away from the house to a nearby alley, suggesting that someone had left the house injured and entered a vehicle. The fire began in the room where the children slept, and the timing of the events was especially significant, as the three girls were set to testify in a court case involving allegations of sexual abuse against Yolanda’s father, James Williams, who was later arrested for the murder of Earlene.
James was reportedly seen with the children at a Denny's restaurant the morning after the fire. However, when later questioned, he did not have the children with him. Despite being charged with the murder of the four missing children, James was never convicted, as two separate trials ended in hung juries, and the charges were eventually dropped in 1979.
In 2014, skeletal remains belonging to Ivy Matory were discovered in Corona, California, but the whereabouts of Yolanda, Violet, and Sir-Kristopher remain unknown.
