A few days after Donna and Raymond were discharged, the woman calling herself Lisa appeared uninvited at Donna's apartment.
On that fateful day, November 6, 1978, Donna left her newborn son in the living room with the woman and her brother while she went to take a shower. When she returned, both Raymond and the woman were gone. The abductor was described as a Black female, around 5'6' with a medium build, and she may have had a mole on her left cheek. Witnesses reported seeing her get into a brown vehicle, which then drove away. An investigation was launched, but the information 'Lisa Morris' had provided proved to be false; there was no record of anyone by that name matching her description in the Atlanta area, nor did anyone with a sister by that name give birth at the hospital. Tragically, the original Atlanta Police Department case file on Raymond's abduction was lost at some point, necessitating a completely new investigation into the decades-old case.
Despite the passage of over four decades, the search for Raymond Green continues. His mother, Donna, has never given up hope of finding her son, who she affectionately called by his middle name, Lamar. She has become a dedicated advocate for missing persons, working with organizations like the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to help other families facing similar heartbreak. Law enforcement and various organizations have released age-progressed images of what Raymond might look like as an adult, as well as sketches of his abductor, in the hopes of generating new leads. The case has been featured in nationwide campaigns, with Raymond's story appearing on screens at gas stations across the country. Authorities believe it is possible that Raymond is alive and may not be aware of his true identity. The disappearance of Raymond Lamar Green remains an active and unresolved case, a painful mystery for a mother who continues to hold onto hope that her son will one day be found.
