In the spring of 1979, a sense of unease settled over a family in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when 30-year-old Kathleen Henson and her infant son, Royce, vanished without a trace. On the night of March 23rd, Kathleen, a manager at a local record store, left work with the intention of delivering concert tickets to a friend. She was a beloved mother who had a passion for music and concerts. That evening, she made a call to her friends around 11:30 p.m., letting them know she was on her way to their home with the tickets and would arrive within the hour. Kathleen was driving a brown 1969 Chrysler sedan that belonged to her father. She and her young son never reached their destination, and from that moment on, they were never heard from again. Two days later, on March 25th, the Chrysler that Kathleen had been driving was discovered abandoned at the intersection of Ute Street and Peoria Avenue in Tulsa. The car was found parked in a crooked manner, which was uncharacteristic of Kathleen's careful driving habits, and all the doors were locked. Inside the vehicle, authorities found her straw coin purse, driver's license, Social Security card, and a single credit card. A baby bottle for Royce was also in the car, but there were no diapers, extra clothing, or additional bottles for the infant. An examination of the car and the surrounding area revealed no signs of a struggle. Similarly, a search of Kathleen's home yielded no clues or indications of foul play. As the days turned into weeks with no word from Kathleen, her family's initial hope that she had simply taken a break from her life began to fade, replaced by a growing fear that something terrible had happened to her and her son. It was noted that prior to her disappearance, Kathleen had confided in friends about her fear of a male acquaintance who was involved in criminal activities. Despite this information, the initial police investigation did not extend far beyond checking her car and apartment. It wasn't until 1984, five years after she vanished, that the investigation was reopened at the insistence of her mother. Foul play is suspected in the disappearance of Kathleen and Royce Henson, and their case remains an unsolved mystery that has left a family searching for answers for decades.
