She and her cousin, 11-year-old Billy Sena, left their home in the Martineztown neighborhood around 10:00 a.m. to visit the post office and play on the grass nearby. The children never returned home, and their whereabouts remain a mystery. Several theories emerged regarding their disappearance, including the possibility that they accidentally got locked in a railcar or were abducted.
Years later, in 2011, authorities identified a person of interest—Michael Cordova, who was the live-in boyfriend of Billy’s mother at the time. It was reported that Cordova, a known drug dealer, had severely beaten Billy just before the disappearance after accusing him of stealing a marijuana plant. Despite efforts to locate Cordova and another woman, Liza Ramirez, who lived with the family in 1979, both have remained untraceable.
Various unconfirmed rumors have circulated, including suggestions that the children were buried in a basement or may have run away. Despite these leads, their case remains unsolved, and it is classified as a non-family abduction.
