Nicole Lynn Bryner, a 3-year-old girl from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was reported missing on March 11, 1982. Her mother, Melody Thomas Childs, initially told authorities that Nicole was abducted while sitting in a shopping cart at a Giant Eagle supermarket on the South Side of Pittsburgh. However, from the outset, authorities were suspicious of this account, as no one else at the store recalled seeing Nicole that day.
