On a warm evening in Chicago, Illinois, on June 25, 1983, 18-month-old Vinyette Teague was with her family at their apartment in the Robert Taylor Homes. Her parents had gone to a drive-in movie, leaving Vinyette and her three older brothers in the care of their grandmother and other relatives who also lived in the building.
