On the evening of June 12, 1984, 15-year-old Kelly Morrissey vanished from her hometown of Lynbrook, New York. She was last seen at approximately 10:00 p.m. at the corner of Earl Avenue and Merrick Road. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a pink sleeveless sweatshirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, and a gold chain with a charm. Kelly is described as a Caucasian female with blonde hair, brown eyes, and a scar on her forehead; her ears are also pierced. She had plans to be home by 10:00 p.m. to study for a summer school exam the following morning and had even laid out her clothes for the next day, indicating she had no intention of leaving. Kelly had left a friend's house between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. with the intention of going to a local video arcade called Captain Video, which was about half a mile away, but she never made it there. She did not take any personal belongings or her savings with her and never collected her last paycheck from her part-time job at a shade and venetian blinds packaging factory. Her mother mentioned that Kelly had been experimenting with alcohol, breaking curfew, and associating with older men around the time she went missing. Despite this, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance did not suggest she was a runaway. The disappearance of Kelly Morrissey was followed by the disappearances and murders of two other local teenage girls, Theresa Fusco and Jacqueline Martarella, sparking fears of a connection between the cases. Fusco, a close friend of Kelly's, went missing five months after her. While there has been speculation about a link between these tragic events, no definitive connection has ever been established by law enforcement in relation to Kelly's case. Decades later, Kelly's case remains an unsolved mystery, and her family continues to search for answers about what happened to their loved one. The Nassau County Police Department continues to investigate her disappearance.
