In the summer of 1984, in the city of Klamath Falls, Oregon, a 15-year-old boy named William Dale Gunn, often called Billy, vanished without a trace. On the morning of June 16th, Billy, a Caucasian male with brown hair, blue eyes, and a distinctive half-moon-shaped scar on his forehead, was spending time with his stepfather. The two had reportedly gone out for a driving lesson. Later that day, his stepfather returned home alone, stating that he had dropped Billy off at a friend's apartment where he was supposed to spend the night. According to the stepfather's account, Billy waved as he walked away. However, Billy was never seen or heard from again. The initial belief that Billy may have run away from home soon gave way to a more sinister theory. Investigations revealed that no one at the friend's apartment complex recalled seeing Billy that day, including the friend he was supposed to visit. In fact, it was discovered that no one was even home at the friend's residence at the time he was allegedly dropped off. This critical piece of information cast a dark shadow over the stepfather's story and led investigators to suspect foul play was involved in the teenager's disappearance. Over the years, the case grew cold, but for Billy's family, the quest for answers never ceased. His sister has publicly voiced her suspicions about their stepfather, describing him as a violent and abusive man. This man was later incarcerated for abusing his stepdaughter and, after his release, was jailed again for stalking his sister before his death in 2004. While authorities have stated they have a suspect, no individual has been publicly named in connection with Billy's disappearance. The case, now classified as a non-family abduction, remains a painful and unresolved mystery for his loved ones and the community. The official investigation, led by the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, continues, holding out hope that one day, the truth behind what happened to William "Billy" Gunn will finally come to light.
