Deborah Ann Hohenshilt, a 26-year-old woman from Daytona Beach, Florida, went missing under suspicious circumstances on February 13, 1988. She was last seen leaving her part-time job at the Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant in Ponce Inlet. After returning home to her apartment in Daytona Beach that evening, she made a phone call, which was the last time anyone heard from her. The following day, when Deborah failed to show up for work, her employer reported her missing.
When investigators searched her apartment, they found signs of a violent struggle. A lamp had been knocked over, and both sheets and pillows were missing. Blood stains were found on her bedspread, and two teeth were discovered beside her bed. Her beloved cats were still in the apartment, but her 1981 Chevrolet Chevette was missing. The car was later found abandoned near Bethune-Cookman College, less than a mile from her home. Witnesses reported that it had been parked there since February 14, the day after Deborah was last seen.
Deborah, who also worked as a real estate agent in Ormond Beach, had suffered significant personal losses prior to her disappearance. Her mother died when Deborah was just three months old, and her father had passed away about a year before she went missing.
