Edward Fonder, an 80-year-old retired machinist, disappeared from his family’s property in Springfield, Pennsylvania, on August 25, 1993. Edward had recently undergone heart valve surgery and required medication, which he left behind on the day of his disappearance. He also used a cane due to his limited mobility. According to his daughter Mary Jane, she last heard him leave the house to retrieve the morning newspaper, but he was never seen again.
