Melissa Ann Espinoza, a 12-year-old girl, disappeared on December 2, 1993, from Rancho Cordova, California. The day before, she had an argument with her mother and left the house late at night. She was last seen at around 3:00 a.m. sitting on the hood of a car near an apartment complex on White Rock Road. This complex was known for its dangerous surroundings, frequented by drug dealers and other suspicious activity.
