In the summer of 1994, 29-year-old Roland Wayne Lucas vanished from the picturesque yet rugged landscape of the Little Shepherd Trail, near the border of Harlan and Letcher counties in Kentucky. On July 23rd, Lucas, an experienced outdoorsman familiar with the local terrain, went into the woods with a friend to search for ginseng.
