Lawrence "Larry" Maynard Nelson, a 39-year-old man, was last seen on June 3, 1995, at the Florida Naturist Park, a nudist colony located in Hudson, Florida. Nelson, a fisherman and tree trimmer, disappeared under suspicious circumstances. He was described as having brown hair, brown eyes, a beard, and distinctive marks, including a scar on his abdomen and a tattoo on his right shoulder. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a green t-shirt, shorts, and a baseball cap. He was known to be in good physical condition, standing around 5'7" and weighing about 160 pounds.
The investigation into Nelson's disappearance quickly pointed towards foul play. Robert Myer, a resident of the Florida Naturist Park, became a prime suspect after blood matching Nelson's DNA was found in Myer's mobile home shortly after Nelson went missing. Despite these findings, no immediate arrest was made. However, in 2000, a witness came forward, claiming that Myer had confessed to murdering Nelson, stating that he had shot him and buried the body on his property. This confession was allegedly recorded by police, but despite searches of the property, no remains were ever found, and Myer was never formally charged with the crime.
Over the years, the case has remained open but unsolved, leaving Nelson's family and authorities with no closure. His disappearance is still classified as a suspected homicide, though no definitive evidence has led to any convictions.
