On July 12, 1998, 40-year-old Jackie Wayne Urich, a self-employed construction worker, left his family's residence in Westville, Oklahoma, and was never heard from again. His mother recalled that he enjoyed having a good time and would occasionally go off for a weekend without telling anyone where he was going.
