Anthony Klama, aged 36, was last seen on the night of November 5, 1998, near his residence at Foxfire Apartments in Palatine, Illinois. Earlier in the evening, he had visited Splinter's Sports Bar, where he played darts with an unidentified man. After leaving the bar around midnight, Klama returned to his apartment complex with a man matching the description of his dart-playing companion.
