Hattaway, who had schizophrenia and anxiety, relied on medication to manage his conditions.
There was a possible sighting of someone matching his description acting unusually near Fairfield and 72nd Avenue, but it was never confirmed that this was him. Hattaway was known to follow a very strict routine, and alarm bells rang for his family when he failed to pick up his paycheck.
