Marcus Virgin, a 24-year-old man, disappeared on May 8, 2003, after traveling from Pensacola, Florida, to Mobile, Alabama. He was accompanied by three acquaintances on the trip, where they reportedly purchased a codeine-laced drug cocktail. That evening, Marcus called his uncle, stating that he would be returning home shortly. However, he never arrived, and his friends later claimed they dropped him off near railroad tracks behind his grandmother's home in Pensacola, though his family
never saw him.
At the time of his disappearance, Marcus was wanted on various charges, including drug-related offenses and failure to pay child support. Initially, authorities suspected that he may have gone into hiding to evade arrest. However, his family and girlfriend maintained that it was highly uncharacteristic of him to go without contacting them for such an extended period.
Several years after his disappearance, authorities found the vehicle Marcus had been in, with a small blood sample in the trunk. Although DNA testing was not immediately possible, new advancements allowed the evidence to be reexamined in 2019. This led to charges being filed against David Lasha Dale for Marcus’s murder, and a second suspect, Keishaun Irby, was also arrested for their involvement.
