James Clemons, a 72-year-old truck driver from Brooklyn, New York, disappeared on June 17, 2000, while on a work-related trip. Clemons, who had been employed by the same trucking company for a decade, was responsible for yard maintenance but was assigned to deliver a truck to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He expressed some anxiety about the trip due to recent memory lapses, possibly connected to the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Despite this, he agreed to make the delivery.
On the day of his disappearance, Clemons became stuck in the mud near Rochester, Minnesota. Local police assisted him in getting back on the road and provided directions to Milwaukee. However, Clemons never reached his destination. He was last seen walking away from his truck near Interstate 90 and Interstate 43 in Beloit, Wisconsin. His truck, which bore the name "Vulcan Basement Waterproofing," was found abandoned on Millington Road later that morning.
After Clemons was last seen, authorities tracked his credit card usage at a Conoco gas station in Albert Lee, Minnesota, and later in Champaign, Illinois, and Des Moines, Iowa. Despite these leads, Clemons himself was never located. He was last seen wearing a blue and white velour shirt, jeans, and black boots, and he may have been disoriented due to his medical condition.
