Patrick Lewis Sukeforth, age 33, was last seen on May 27, 2002, while aboard a 23-foot recreational boat called *The Hardwood* in the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal near Delaware City, Delaware. He and the boat's owner were returning from a trip when their boat struck underwater debris, disabling it. They dropped anchor and contacted friends for assistance, but the anchor failed to hold, and the boat drifted toward the shipping lanes of the Delaware River.
