Ulpiano Gomez was an 84-year-old man who had recently moved to Vineland, New Jersey, from Brooklyn, New York, just five months before he vanished. On what seemed to be an ordinary day, he left his residence with a simple plan in mind. He intended to walk approximately two miles to the Maintree Shopping Center, located at Main Road and Chestnut Avenue, to buy a remote control from Radio Shack.
