Daniel Yuen, a 16-year-old from Edison, New Jersey, went missing on February 8, 2004, from Running Springs, California. Daniel had been sent to the Cedu School, a therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens, just ten days before his disappearance. He had been struggling with depression and emotional issues, and his family hoped the school could provide him with support. However, Daniel was unhappy at Cedu and had expressed fears about other students, telling his parents he planned to run away.
On the morning of his disappearance, Daniel left the school, telling staff he was going to buy cigarettes, but he never returned. He took no belongings or identification with him. There have been several reported sightings of him following his disappearance, including in San Diego and Blythe, California. Witnesses claimed to have seen him panhandling and acting oddly near a waterfall in San Diego months after he vanished. Despite extensive searches, Daniel was never found, and his case remains unsolved.
In 2018, a mysterious voicemail was received stating that Daniel was still in the same area and did not want to be found. This raised further questions, but no concrete leads followed. His family continues to search for answers and hope for Daniel’s safety. His case remains classified as endangered, and any information on his whereabouts is still being sought by authorities.
