At the time of her disappearance, Tammy was described as a "drifter" who frequently moved residences, which initially delayed her family from reporting her missing until May 2004. However, after she failed to cash her social services checks or refill her prescriptions, her family realized something was wrong.
Tammy had a history of mental illness, requiring regular medication. She was also a mother to a young son who was in foster care when she disappeared. Authorities suspect foul play, especially after serial killer Nicholas Wiley was linked to her case. Wiley, who confessed to several murders, including the killing of a "red-haired girl named Tammy," was eventually convicted of her murder. Though investigators connected Tammy's DNA to blood found on Wiley’s belongings, her body has never been recovered.
