In the winter of 2006, a tragic story unfolded in the Bronx, New York, with the disappearance of a newborn baby boy named Anthony Rojas. Anthony was born premature and had spent the first two weeks of his life in a hospital. On December 31, 2006, he was discharged, and his mother was taking him home. What should have been a joyous occasion turned into a deeply troubling mystery when the infant vanished. He was only two weeks old at the time he was last seen. The circumstances surrounding Anthony's disappearance were heartbreaking. Initially, his mother reported that her baby had been abducted at gunpoint by a man dressed in black. However, as police investigated, they found inconsistencies in her story. Eventually, she confessed to a horrific act. She admitted to smothering the infant while they were on a bus and then disposing of his body in a public trash can. The child was reportedly conceived as a result of a rape in Mexico. Despite an extensive search of two landfills in Pennsylvania, little Anthony's remains were never recovered. His mother was charged with murder and other offenses. In 2009, she was convicted of manslaughter and received a 15-year prison sentence. This case is a somber reminder of a life that had barely begun and the devastating outcome of a parent's desperate actions. The absence of his body means there has never been a final resting place for Anthony, leaving a lingering sense of unresolved sorrow. The case is now considered a presumed homicide, a tragic conclusion to the search for the missing infant.
